Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide advice, strategies, and problem solving to personnel on all health and safety issues to achieve the goal of ‘no harm’.
  2. Promote a culture where health and safety is a value that will never be compromised.
  3. Support the development and implementation of the health and safety policy, safety management plan, and standards aligned with the Hatch safety management system.
  4. Ensure inclusion of health and safety in preparation of project execution plans and definitions of objectives.
  5. Ensure the delivery and rollout of Working Together Safely (WTS), Values Driven Safety (VDS), and Construction Safety Leadership Program (CSLP) on the project.
  6. Provide assistance in all pre-contract, tender assessment, and contract administration in relation to health and safety requirements.
  7. Manage and ensure the compilation of the legal registers.
  8. Define local statutory and regulatory requirements and communicate with the team.
  9. Compile specific health and safety setup documentation aligned with the Hatch corporate health and safety folders.
  10. Lead and facilitate the project hazard analysis and risk assessment process across all disciplines.
  11. Ensure the implementation and support of behavior-based health and safety and participate in incident investigations and reporting.
  12. Measure implementation of corrective actions from incident investigations.
  13. Develop, implement, and coordinate the process of health and safety reporting.
  14. Develop, implement, and coordinate incident reporting, analysis, and statistical returns.
  15. Ensure health and safety indicators and reviews are planned, implemented, and reported.
  16. Coordinate and submit health and safety leading indicator and information reports.
  17. Prepare, implement, and review emergency response plans.
  18. Implement and manage the audit program for Hatch.
  19. Measure compliance with rules, safety management plans, and health and safety procedures.
  20. Perform duties as stipulated in specific safety management plans.
  21. Ensure performance, assessment, training, and development for health and safety staff.
  22. Manage the identification of health and safety training needs for personnel.
  23. Implement a health and safety training program based on needs analysis.
  24. Provide and assist with application of workplace health and safety systems support and procedures for use by staff.
  25. Ensure appointment of key health and safety staff and contractors.
  26. Assign health and safety staff to work and contribute to workforce planning initiatives.
  27. Manage health and safety staff to achieve targets.
  28. Recruit and induct health and safety staff.
  29. Provide workers' compensation and rehabilitation support, advice, and manage the process.

Qualifications and Experience Essential:

  1. 10 to 15 years experience in health and safety, with at least 10 years on-site experience on major construction projects.
  2. High proficiency in both languages (Spanish & English).
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  4. A high level of computer skills.
  5. A high level of organizational skills.
  6. A passion for continual improvement of project health and safety performance.
  7. Ability to lead and motivate on-site project teams in health and safety.
  8. Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions.
