We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Manager for our T issue Culture Laboratory at the Research and Developmen t facility at Arica, Chile.

  • Supervise, coordinate and manage all laboratory operations, including ear cleaning and disinfection, tissue culture and culture media preparation. Coordinate lab equipment maintenance, certification and calibration.
  • Plan the appropriate amount of resources needed (supplies, equipment, workers), to achieve a controlled, stable and balance process. Interact with the TIPD planning lead, to support your planning. Be responsible for budget execution according to expectations
  • Be responsible for collecting accurate and on-time production data. Analyze and evaluate data, summarize results and generate reports using the most appropriate methods.
  • Supervise and execute internal research projects as part of the Discovery efforts. Create, design, conduct, evaluate different experiments, analyze data and create reports in the most appropriate way.
  • Ensure CAMS and EHS&S procedures are followed in all processes.
  • Lead and supervise the team in charge, establishing goals and objectives aligned with the site's strategy.
  • Monitor and evaluate the individual and collective performance of the team, providing constructive feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and motivating work environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
  • Identify the training and development needs of the team
  • Plan, monitor, manage and report operational status, workload and performance. Manage a large crew, including supervision of research workers, weekly performance evaluations and training sessions on safety and proper lab practices. Promote continuous improvement, including incorporation of LEAN principles and methodologies..
  • Follow all safety and regulatory compliance, including proper hazardous waste disposal, and promote a safe work environment.
  • Participate in meetings, communicate and interact with other LAB groups leads under the TIPD network, the Laboratory Operation Team (LOT).

Qualifications

  • MS/PhD degree related to biology, biochemistry or agricultural sciences,
  • Minimum 3-5 years research experience - preferably in corn and directly with doubled haploids, or at least five years of relevant work experience in plant tissue culture.
  • Knowledge of statistics and experimental designs and proficiency with data management.
  • Advanced english
  • Require excellent organizational skills and attention to detail along with fluency in written and spoken English. Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills. Proved ability to work well with a wide range of people.
