Responsibilities:

1) Communications and outreach

  • Organizes training and activities that increase the visibility of web accessibility products and services, both for internal and external users.
  • Helps in developing and implementation of the accessibility communications and outreach plan.
  • Prepares promotional materials about Web accessibility good practices.
2) Website Diagnostics and Recommendations

  • Identifies issues in the ECLAC Websites according to WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) Standards and recommends how to improve them.
  • Prepare a report on the current main website's accessibility challenges and proposed solutions.
  • Participates actively in the project of improving the accessibility of ECLAC's main website.
3) Issues and Content Management

  • Uses the standard tool to document and track all open issues regarding accessibility.
  • Directly edits noncompliant content in the ECLAC's CMS tool to improve user accessibility.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,

(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

  • For this internship, studies in the fields of Technology or Design are desirable.
Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Knowledge of English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.

NOTE:
"Fluency" equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and ̈knowledge of ̈ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.
