Job Description:

  • The purpose of the Marketing BU is to sustainably maximize cash flows from the marketing of Anglo American products and services. In support of this, we have set ourselves a target to deliver a considerable uplift in Value by 2023.
The Base & Specialty Metals Marketing teams is a critical and significant contributor to the Marketing EBIT target. Critical in the delivery of the BM strategy is the role of Marketing & Sales.


The Base Metals (BM) book is an expanding book given the role that BMs will play in a more sustainable future.

This should see the team grow the number of commodities (circa 15) as well as the services we provide our clients.


This is a regional role (America) focused on managing all client relationships, understanding the required material solutions, and agreeing commercial terms for buying and selling of all products in line with our Risk, Governance and Compliance frameworks.


The Sales Specialist is responsible for support the Manager Sales and Marketing America and Book Managers to manage marketing activities and customer relationship with all south and north American Copper producers, consumers and fabricators.

Develop new business partners and provide Marketing Intelligence insights about the Cu industry in the region and develop a range of solutions for customers.

This role has particular attention to Domestic transactions in Chile and Peru.

What you will do:

Sales & Sourcing Book Management (America):

  • Propose and execute the regional strategy for commodity export transactions inclusive of both equity and Third-Party commodity production: Copper Concentrate, Cathodes, Anodes & other base metals if required.
  • Search, define and execute 3rd party materials supply into Anglo American smelting operation in Chile.
  • Support the management of all external physical sales across commodities in which Anglo American takes delivery of.
  • Management of equity offtake contracts from Anglo American owned mines for the allocated customers and region.
  • Non-Origination (prefinancing) purchase of shortterm physical products and management of Originated inherited trade flows.
  • Where customer ask is concerned to engage in value extraction through Anglo American's physical positions from a product perspective.
  • Ownership of endtoend deal life cycle

Optimisation (America)

  • Understand material solutions client requirements, structure commercial solutions for clients to successfully position Anglo American as a material solutions provider.
  • Effectively handover the corresponding marketrelated risks/ features/ opportunities (metal) over to the Trading team for support and management of further value extraction.

Customer/ Regional Development (America)

  • Support Sales Manager on the relationships with all customers and suppliers, own the relations with the assigned accounts.

Stakeholder and Relationship Management - internal and external (America)

  • Development and maintenance of longterm relationships with all customers, traders, and producers
  • Management of client/ trade solution pitching in close collaboration with Trading Team
  • Support subbooks of adjacent and/or byproduct material (ie. Copper Blister and Au/Ag concs)

  • Deliver the Base Metals Marketing strategy within Marketing's defined risk and governance framework.
