Job Overview
Plan A Technologies is looking for a
Data Engineer
to design, develop, and optimize the data pipelines and infrastructure powering our cloud analytics platform. This role is responsible for building robust, scalable ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, Databricks, and PySpark within a Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver layers). You will enable efficient ingestion, transformation, and delivery of high-quality data for reporting and analytics purposes.

Please note:
you must have at least 8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer to be considered for this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, PySpark, and Fivetran.
  • Develop and optimize transformation processes in Azure Databricks, following the Medallion Architecture (Bronze → Silver).
  • Implement data quality checks, audit mechanisms, and validation pipelines.
  • Manage and optimize cloud data storage and compute resources on Microsoft Azure.
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts and business stakeholders to ensure datasets meet analytical requirements.
  • Ensure documentation and version control for pipelines, transformations, and workflows.
  • Optimize ETL performance, troubleshoot issues, and support production workflows.
  • Contribute to best practices for data security, governance, and architecture.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Strong experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and ETL/ELT design.
  • Solid experience with Azure Databricks and PySpark for data transformations.
  • Experience with Fivetran for automated data ingestion.
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of modern data warehousing concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience building pipelines in cloud environments (Azure preferred).
  • Knowledge of Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
  • Experience with CI/CD for data pipelines (Azure DevOps, Git).
  • Knowledge of data modeling, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with Delta Lake, Lakehouse Architecture, and structured streaming.
  • Understanding of security best practices for cloud data platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have solid written and verbal English skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive work attitude.
  • Initiative and drive to do great things.
